Girls Inc. of Orange County offers nationally developed, and localized programs to meet the interests and needs of girls served in Orange County.

Our programming – in partnership with schools and at our centers through 82 local organizations – focuses on the development of the whole girl. A combination of long-lasting mentoring relationships, a pro-girl environment, and research-based programming equips girls to lead fulfilling and productive lives, break the cycle of poverty, and become role models in their community.

Programs developed by the national organization are research-based and tested to empower girls to be Strong, Smart, and Bold.

All programs are offered in-person at more than 50 school sites and community partners or virtually through Canvas, a learning management system platform used in Orange County schools.

The network of local Girls Inc. nonprofit organizations serves girls ages 5-18 at more than 1,500 sites in 350 cities across the United States and Canada. Our evidence-based programming is delivered by trained professionals who focus on the development of the whole girl, supporting, mentoring and guiding girls in an affirming, pro-girl environment.

Here, girls learn to value their whole selves, discover and develop their inherent strengths, and receive the support they need to navigate the challenges they face.

Girls Inc. girls live healthy and active lifestyles and are less likely to engage in risky behavior; they are eager to learn, successful in school, and more likely to graduate from post-secondary education; and they display diligence, perseverance, and resilience.

    I’m a parent with a teenager who’s gone off the rails w/pot and alcohol abuse. Our son is a Junior in high school and his grades were sinking drastically. He’s always been a B+ students and I was scared he wouldn’t return from a self-destructive path.

    I read about The BILY Group on The Flora May Foundation’s website, connected with The BILY Group and attended a few months of meetings. Never, in a million years would I have imagined how many other parents like us, are in the same boat.

    For parents who aren’t familiar with The BILY Group:
    It’s a parent support group (not for your child or teenager) that meets once a week. I went to the San Clemente meeting off Palizada at the Presbyterian church. I found out BILY has various locations in OC, LA & SD. I was nervous attending the first meeting, but that lasted all of maybe 2 minutes. I immediately knew this was where we needed to be, and that we’d get understanding at minimum. Boy was I wrong! We had much more than “understanding”. If you’re a parent of a child/teenager who’s drifted away from who they used to be, you’ll never feel alone at BILY meetings. There is HOPE.

    I can’t sing enough praises of all the information we gained from other parents attending meetings. The people who run BILY have “been there and done that” with their own grown children, and who hope to save us from the same painful experience. Plus, who better to listen to??! They help parents, just like us. I can’t believe I’d never heard about The BILY Group, before finding it on The Flora May Foundation’s website! Huge thanks for that referral alone.

    Our Families Good News:
    After attending several BILY meetings, many conversations with their moderators and other parents, we were able to change the dysfunctional dynamic in our family! It took immense weight of us, to have handled this head-on and not wasted time getting to a place we could communicate effectively w/our son. We had tried everything, you name it. I can’t express how valuable these meetings are to parents of school aged children. You’ll be surprised what you learn. I hope to meet you there someday!
